Opening Reception at Plinth Gallery, Denver, CO Tonight

Front of Show Invite: Bouquet Vase, porcelain with glaze and laser transfers

The opening of my solo show at Plinth Gallery is tonight! I’m looking forward to seeing the work installed and meeting up with some old and new friends who are planning to come to the opening.

If you’re interested, you can see images of pieces in the show on my Facebook page: Elizabeth Robinson Studio and read an interview on Connie Norman’s blog.

Here is a blurb that will be hanging on the wall of the gallery:

My purpose in exhibiting both porcelain and terra cotta ceramics for this show is twofold. First, there is a wonderful aesthetic contrast between the porcelain and the earthenware and second, there are rich historical and cultural connotations with these two materials that I find compelling. The title of this exhibition “Gestating” alludes to the connection I feel, as a mother, between the physical and emotional experience of bearing offspring and this next developmental stage in my work.”

back of exhibition postcard

“Elizabeth Robinson’s work is a very personal statement embodied in accessible work that is meant to be used. Her pottery is an intimate statement about the importance of the handmade object and the role such objects have in our daily rituals. Her attention to detail in both form and decoration results in work that is a joy to experience.”
